Liddy bug's neck is getting stronger and stronger each day, she is able to hold her head up for brief moments. Her head isn't as wobbly and she doesn't thrash it around as much. Each day I prompt her up on mr. whale and we listen to music. Pandora is amazing we listen to disney radio, glee radio and a children's radio. When we sing to her she is captivated by our mouth. She is making all kinds of sounds, she coos, laughs and squeaks. I love listening to her, and when I copy her sounds, she smiles. She is also starting to grasp things, she loves the octopus and she is seeing more colors and shapes she loves to stare at her play matt with all the sea animals and colors.

Baby Einstein Play Matt
Steve and I decided to invest in a baby einstein play matt, it plays music, has colorful attachments for her to look at and try to grab. She loves the colorful lights that go along with the music and the she loves to stare in the mirror, I caught her making funny faces and laughing at herself. I really enjoy the whale pillow it helps her to practice holding her head up, she is getting really good and loves to shake the rattle while on it. I can't wait for her to use it through all of her stages of growing.

The adventures of sleeping, reading and diaperhood.
Last night Lydia slept form 10pm to 4:15am it was incredible except my body is still on the hour and half/ two hour routine. My body thinks Lydia needs to eat so it wakes me up and I have to go downstairs and pump every two hours or so, I'm so exhausted but its nice because now I have a way of getting a stock pile built of food....drinks anyone:)
Dr. Seuss is once again my favorite author. I was reading a book called baby brains, its all about the baby brain from birth to five years old and it states that newborns are intrigued the most with rhymes. So I thought who does rhyming better then good old Dr. Seuss. My sister and I went out and bought several Dr. Seuss books, I had forgotten how much I love those books. Lydia and I read at least two of them a day, Fox in Sock is really hard. I'm working on getting more Llama Llama books, the one we have is so sweet and fun to read.
I've always heard stories of parents getting pooped and peed on and thought how gross it was, until now. Its now a common routine between Lydia and I when I go to change her diaper. I just laugh along with her and anticipate old faithful (oh yes she has some good pressure when peeing, she got me on the cheek this morning) or sharts to happen, I get poop all over my hand every time I go to left her leg I guess I'm helping her release pressure. My one advice to any new parent is to register for a whole bunch of onesies in every size, because by noon Lydia was in her fourth onesie of the day and at 7 weeks old (today) she is already out of her new born outfits and into her three month ones, and she was under five pounds when we brought her home.

A sleeping baby and a poem from daddy!!
Lydia's favorite sleeping position is the field goal stance. She has slept like this the moment we stopped doing the tight swaddle that the do at the hospital. If we tried to do it we ended waking up to a crying baby and who would fall right back the moment her arms were free.

Lydia also loves to sleep and sit in her vibrating chair. If we are unable to get her to sleep in the pack-n-play the next option is the vibrating chair. Today we finally caved and have let her sleep in it for over two hours now. Every time we tried to place her in the pack-n-play she would fuss and cry, she was getting so tired that the moment we placed her in the chair she was out and we were able to pick up the chair without a flench from her and move it to the living room so we could keep an eye on her.

| July 4, 2011 A warm chest is also a favorite place for a snooze!!!! Quality time with Auntie I'm starting to think she likes to sleep upright...maybe that's why she seems to hate her bassinet. |
So delicate and small at birth,
nothing in the World compares to your worth.
Growing so smoothly together,
you're no longer light as a feather.
Your smile brightens our day,
our little miss Lydia May.
Now so plumb with chubby cheeks,
it's hard to imagine your almost seven weeks.
I love you my young sweet pea,
you fill my hart with glee.

First blog & belly time
Hey everyone, My friend Kristin gave me the idea of starting a blog since there is an ocean separating us from friends and family. This way everyone can see Lydia grow like she was there on the mainland.
Today daddy captured our daily belly time, she is 6 weeks and two days old. This is something we learned from our two week appointment with the at home nurse, and have been doing everyday since. She is starting to love it, at the beginning she cried until I picked her up. She is getting stronger everyday!
